Guy Gilad: To sculpt with light

Guy Gilad (1977-2021) was born in Kibbutz Nir-Am. Shortly afterward, he moved to Oranit with his family. Following his military service in the submarine fleet of the Israeli Navy, he traveled for a year in South America, where he first became interested in photography. Upon his return to Israel, he received a scholarship to study photography at The Jerusalem Multidisciplinary College, Jerusalem. With determination and perseverance, he established himself as a prominent fashion photographer with a style all his own. He inspired others with his depiction of character studies in situ, within an environment.
Gilad was able to find in commercial photography an outlet for his thought-provoking narratives. His life was cut short by cancer at the age of 44. However, his rich legacy of photographs continues to enrich us.
