Nissan Bar-Dayan: Oh My Land My Birthplace

Nissan Bar-Dayan (b. 1936, Kfar Saba) paints in landscapes of Israel in pastel and charcoal. No two are alike. He is continually able to find new aspects of the views and approaches every lane, stone, and hill with great respects, although occasionally he may relocate them, or resize them. The landscapes reflect the artist’s careful choice of color, resulting in soft, silent scenes of great elegance.

The exhibition’s title is drawn from the well-known poem Oh My Land My Birthplace by Shaul Tchernikovsky, composed following his immigration to Israel and first acquaintance with the Land itself, so different from what he imagined in his Zionist dreams.
