Michael Kagan: Eternal Beauty
Michael Kagan (1956, London) is a perpetual hunter of unusual structure and form. His interest in patterns was first expressed in his doctoral thesis which explored the origins of structure in the evolutionary journey from simplicity to complexity. His photography is a continual search for the beauty that surrounds us in the shapes and patterns of the natural world.
This collection of images ranges from the mystical, to the sensual, to the dark and mysterious. Even though his camera points at flowers, Michael defiantly insists (as did Georgia O’Keefe) that he does not take photographs of flowers but of beauty. Thus, they transport us into a transcendent mind/emotional space beyond the confinement of natural boundaries.
