Fifteen years ago, Muli and Gidi brought Michaela into the world through surrogacy.
They raised her with devotion and love, maintained a warm relationship with her surrogate mother, and never hid from her the circumstances of her birth in the US.
They kept telling Michaela that when she turned 18, she could directly contact the woman who had donated the egg.
To their great surprise, they discover that Michaela, without their knowledge, has already gotten in touch with the donor.
Having no other choice, and just at the height of a crisis in their relationship, Muli and Gidi decide to go with Michaela on the most unnerving trip of their lives.

This is the starting point of "The Father I Could Have Been," a new Israeli play that seeks to dismantle and reassemble the concept of family in the new era. It is the second co-production of the creators of the successful play "The One My Soul Loves," Itay Segal and Moshe Kepten.
