"Down with Corruption"
'The Wonderful World of Yiddish' series
Editor and Lecturer: Dr. Mordechai Yushkovsky – Researcher of Yiddish Literature, Culture and Folklore
The struggle against public corruption as expressed in classical Yiddish literature.
We will examine the immortal works of authors Mendele Moycher Sforim, Sholem Aleichem, and Isaac Leib Peretz, poet Shimen-Shmuel Frug, and the Jewish theatre revolutionary Jacob Gordin – which depict a fierce struggle against public corruption, bribery, fraud, and breach of trust in Jewish society. Surprisingly, these works still sound relevant a century later.
