19:30 Jackie Kennedy: The First Lady of Fashion – Lecture by Yaara Kedar, curator and fashion historian
Jackie Kennedy was one of the most memorable icons who filled the post of America's First Lady. Thanks to her extraordinary style in clothes, she changed the face of worldwide fashion. Kennedy redefined the First Lady's role in the political sphere and as a symbol of glamourous American style.
This intriguing lecture will delve into her life's journey and reveal how pastel suits, pillbox hats, pearls, giant sunglasses, and imaginative hairdos made her the epitome of fashion and femininity. Jackie's life was full of ups and downs: living in the White House, dealing with her loss after the assassination, her days as a single mother, her second marriage, and her life in New York. Her elegant style, combining grace and nonchalance, still inspires designers, women in public positions, and fashion lovers worldwide. Through her fashion-related and personal choices, we will depict her mark on American culture and show how fashion can symbolize resilience and consolation in moments of loss and tragedy.
