Songs by legendary music makers in the 1970s instilled Israeli music with a new vibrancy and a heightened sense of musicality. Among the most prominent talents were Matti Caspi, Ehud Manor, and Shlomo Gronich.
Lyricist Ehud Manor and composer-singer Mati Caspi were two of Israel's greatest songwriting duos. In addition to creating their original style, they influenced an entire generation of creators, singers, and the Israeli theatrical scene. For two decades, they dominated almost every new creation in Israel. Ehud Manor wrote the lyrics of thousands of songs, translated dozens of plays and musicals into Hebrew, wrote original musicals, and emceed and edited countless radio and television programs. Mati Caspi's fabulous melodies came from his heart and instantaneously crept into Manor's heart. The outstanding synergy between the two is hard to explain, but one cannot miss sensing it in their joint songs.
