The play presents a modern and conventional Mizrahi family. The father, Ezra Sapir, formerly Safdia, is on his deathbed. Around him are his wife, his disabled daughter, and his eldest son, his pride's source; the only one missing is Amir, the rebellious younger son who has eloped his father's smothering high hopes. All wait for the young son to return and reconcile with his father. Yet, Amir prefers to go to his psychologist and, in an almost cruel way, analyze his family's path, i.e., their giving up their uniqueness by attempting to integrate into Israeli society.

While examining these attempts to integrate, the play presents the costs, the identity abandoned, the complex intergenerational relationships, the difficulty of loving all children equally, the nearly impossible struggle with parental roles, and more.
