Nahum Barnea

'Behind the News' series

A series of meetings with leading figures in Israeli media
Editor and moderator: Hadas Levi Setzemsky, a journalist with Channel 12

Journalist Nahum Barnea has covered Israeli politics and major events in Israeli life for decades. Governments and parliaments came and went; peace agreements were signed; atrocious terrorist attacks occurred, and wars broke out. Now, marking the twenty-fifth anniversary of Barnea's weekly column in the Saturday supplement of "Yediot Ahronoth," we will discuss the drastic changes his profession has undergone over the years, the complex relationship between reporters and politicians, and the coverage of the current war. We will also want to hear why journalists reveal their political stances and whether the revelation is beneficial. In addition, we will try to get a behind-the-scenes glimpse into what stories he was required not to publish, what he chose to keep to himself and why, and how a piece of information he gets wind of turns into a journalistic bomb.
