Theatre
During the school year the Jerusalem Theatre presents tens of plays recommended and approved by the Ministry of Educations National Culture Basket (Sal tarbut).
With the aim of enriching the viewing experience and relevance to students, preparatory material, programs, lists of topics for discussion, etc. are available upon request for all of the plays. This year a wide variety of plays has been added for students during morning hours.
In order to examine the appropriateness of plays for students and prepare them for the experience, we invite teachers to preview the plays at the Jerusalem Theatre or at theatres in Tel Aviv.

Behind-the-scenes tour of one of the large cultural complexes in Israel
Do you love theatre? Do you dream of visiting backstage? Are you interested in seeing how the whole huge array works? Here is your chance!
We invite you a new perspective and a different experience, a special opportunity—a tour of the places where the magic takes place—just before it goes on stage.
The tour opens with a brief historical and architectural summary of the unique structure that combines stone and architectural sculpture, planned in advance as an active centre of theatrical-cultural activity and a social venue. Next: visit the dressing rooms, the actors’ lounge, visit the various halls, go on the different stages, enter the back corridors connecting all of the different parts of the building, control rooms, costume room, a rehearsal of a philharmonic orchestra (when possible).
The tours enjoy great popularity with educators and students.
“This tour undoubtedly helped to connect students with the theatre, not only as a place where theatre happens (through the encounter with all of its elements), but also as a place for culture in Jerusalem. Together, we saw how students enjoyed each new corner in the theatre and how much it interested them. They were quite moved by this wonderful experience and left enchanted. As I said at the conclusion of the tour—the next play they see in a theatre will undoubtedly be a different experience for them.”
